We can't blame him for being optimistic.

Vin Diesel was recently quizzed about the upcoming Fast & Furious entry, Furious 7, and how the film impact with audiences across the globe.

The hotly-anticipated sequel lands in Irish cinemas next month, with early reviews calling it the best in the series.

But what does Diesel think of it? "It will probably win best picture at the Oscars, unless the Oscars don’t want to be relevant ever."

Wow, that's some answer. The Fast & Furious franchise has so far racked up over TWO BILLION in box-office earnings, so it's safe to say that it's a hit with audiences.

But Academy Awards voters? Probably not. Then again, anything's possible.

Diesel went on, saying that the studio bosses believed in it too. One executive was reported by Diesel as saying, "If there was no number attached to these movies, they would be contenders for best picture."

We can see it now. Oscars 2016. Best Picture category. Furious 7.

And the Oscar's shaped like The Rock's head.
