It's a hard left turn for the franchise but one that will no doubt only garner more interest in the film as Cary Fukunaga has been announced as the new director for Bond 25.

The 25th Bond installment is set to begin filming in London's Pinewood Studios on March 4th, 2019, with a new target release date of February 14th, 2020 (which will be a nice Valentine's Day date for some).

The announcement came from Eon and the official Bond account on Twitter this morning, ending weeks of speculation after Danny Boyle exited the film unexpectedly last month, with reports suggesting their was conflict between Boyle and Craig over casting.

Fukunaga is best known for directing and writing the stellar first season of HBO's 'True Detective' as well as Netflix's 'Beasts of No Nation', and his latest work, the Netflix series 'Maniac' starring Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, debuts tomorrow.
