While the pop world was distracted with all the nonsense that is the MTV VMAs last night, very sad news broke of the death of legendary horror movie director Wes Craven.

Responsible for some of the greatest horror movies ever made including 'The Last House On The Left', 'The Hills Have Eyes', 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and 'Scream', Craven died from brain cancer at the age of 76, his family revealed in a statement last night.

His illustrious career in film cemented his status as one of the greats, leaving a mark not only those who saw his films but also those he worked on them with him. Courteney Cox, Rose McGowan and John Carpenter are just a few paying tribute to the director since hearing the news of his death.
