Tom Hardy Based Bane On An Irish Traveler
Tom Hardy is the main villain, Bane, in the highly anticipated new Batman film, The Dark Knight Rises. His voice in the film's trailers has come under much scrutiny, and he's revealed where exactly the inspiration for the voice came from - an Irish traveler.
"It's based on a guy named Bartley Gorman," he told Vulture, "He's the king of the gypsies, and he's a boxer, a bare-knuckle boxer, an Irish traveler, a gypsy." There ya have it; while Bane is sometimes inaudible, he's certainly an imposing presence - and we have a Paddy to thank for it.
The Dark Knight Rises is released in Irish cinemas on July 20th and is as spectacular as you'd expect.
