Top Gun was awesome. Ridiculous? Yes. Sexist? Certainly. But it also awesome, burly, and pretty funny too (c’mon, that volleyball scene was just plain ridiculous).

Cruise, as we know, has been doing alright since. His latest, originally called Mena, stars the actor as real-life persona Adler Berriman "Barry" Seal, a pilot (I’m not even kidding) and hustler (The Colour of Money much?).

Seal ran drugs in the 1980s for cocaine kingpin Pablo Escobar. He then got recruited by the DEA to run one of the biggest secret operations in US history.

Originally the film was named Mena after a small town in Arkansas where cocaine was smuggled through an airport.

But now the flick has been given a new name: American Made.

I repeat, American Made.

You cannot get a more patriotic movie title.

The film is helmed by Doug Liman, director of The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow. Universal also announced the release date for the film will be September 29th, 2017.
