Lengthy running times with comic-book films seem to be the thing nowadays, but it's heartening to see someone like Taika Waititi upending what you'd expect.

In fact, Taika Waititi was an unusual choice to begin with anyway, so it's good to see that he's being allowed a chance to be unusual in both the edit and the tone of the film. In an interview with Collider during the San Diego Comic-Con, Waititi revealed that Thor Ragnarok's current run time is and around 100 minutes, which would make it the shortest film in the MCU.

"The cut right now, I reckon it’s about 100 minutes. It’s not gonna be a very, very long film," said Waititi. "I think that stories are better when you leave them wanting more, and this film moves at a clip, it’s got stuff happening all the time. I think people are still gonna feel exhausted by the end, they’ve been on this big journey and stuff, so I don’t think we need the film to be three hours."

Given how Captain America: Civil War had a runtime of 147 minutes, Age of Ultron was 141 minutes and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.2 was 136 minutes, bringing in Thor Ragnarok with 100 minutes seems like a big ask.

However, Waititi has a knack for pacing and timing that's served him well in the past. Hunt For The Wilderpeople had a runtime of 101 minutes and it was, by far, the funniest film of last year.
