Every year, the IFI opens its doors to the public and puts on a series on free screenings of much-loved classics and hidden gems from yesteryear.

This year's line-up, which has just been announced, is no different. The day kicks off with a screening of The Mighty Ducks, starring Emilio Estevez as Coach Bombay, a cherub-faced Joshua Jackson and Elden Henson, and perennial '90s baddie Lane Smith.

Later on in the day, you've got a 35mm screening of the very first Star Trek film, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, a 16mm screening of the Steve Martin classic comedy caper Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, and screenings of William Friedkin's Sorcerer and the Coen Brothers' gangster classic Miller's Crossing.

Tickets for each screening are made available on a first-come, first-served basis one hour beforehand, so it's really just about hanging out in the IFI to pick up tickets. To top it all off, there's free guided tours of the projection booths, the digital restoration suites, and loads more beside.

All the information is available at ifi.ie/openday, as well as special offers on IFI membership and your chance to vote on the audience choice film. Here's the full schedule for the day.
