They're making a Beauty and the Beast film and they're getting the dude who directed the last two (and worst) Twilight films to direct it.

That's kind of unfair actually; Bill Condon also directed Dreamgirls and, er The Fifth Estate - the latter one of the biggest bombs of last year. Sure look, he knows a thing or three about angst ridden romance at the least.

The Beauty and the Beast animated film is one of the most loved in the Disney archives. It was also a huge success when it was released in 1991 - taking a mammoth $425 million at the box office, which would be multiplied with added inflation etc today.

Condon does know his way around a musical number, as Dreamgirls proved, so that may be the angle the studio brass are looking at.
