As we've opined before, Savoy's Screen 1 is a landmark of Dublin city and should be treated almost like a listed building.
One of the few remaining grand rooms left in Dublin, Savoy's Screen 1 has seen it all and seen everyone too - Tom Cruise, Russell Crowe, Quentin Tarantino, Meryl Streep, you name it, chances are they've done a premiere in Savoy's Screen 1. Sadly, IMC Cinemas have decided that the cinema will be shut and converted into additional cinemas.
Not surprisingly, a petition has now been started to save the screen and has so far collected 545 signatures as of writing.
