Alrighty then.

The production company behind movies like Young Guns, Dead Ringers and Major League has announced that it is re-branding and will be dipping into its back catalogue for future projects.

The Morgan Creek Entertainment Group said it plans to use some of the 60 movies in its library for a series of reboots or reworkings for television. One of the titles they plan on reviving is Ace Ventura with a "mainstream theatrical production relaunch".

Company president David Robinson said they didn’t want to do a straight remake but wanted to “honour” the movie with something in the same spirit.

“Because it’s episodic in nature, about a pet detective, it also lends itself to a traditional single-camera series franchise,” he said.

Robinson hinted that Jim Carrey will be asked to return in some capacity but possibly just to hand over his detective badge to a younger generation.

There’s no timeline on the new production but if we don’t hear anything in the next five minutes, we’ll just wait a little longer. Sorry.
