He's had a few missteps with his more recent films including The Dark Tower and Free State of Jones (exactly), but Matthew McConaughey's latest puts the McConaissance back on track.

'White Boy Rick' is based on a true story and sees McConaughey play the father of 15-year-old Richard Wershe Jr., who became the FBI's youngest informant in 1980s Detroit.

According to Deadline, it's "Based on the moving true story of a blue-collar father and his teenage son, Rick Wershe Jr., who became an undercover police informant and later a drug dealer, before he was abandoned by his handlers and sentenced to life in prison."

The film also stars Bruce Dern and Piper Laurie, as well as newcomer Richie Merritt in the titular role, and is set for release in December.
