Joe Carnahan's been pretty vocal about his work on Uncharted and, at long last, there seems to be something in the way of progress on the film.
Carnahan took to Instagram - which, seriously, seems to be the place for at least 75% of all breaking movie news right now - to post a picture of the completed screenplay, proudly confirmed that it was "done and dusted."
He went on, saying that "(if) there's a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, 'cuz this thing is a BEAST." For those who don't know, Uncharted is based on the popular gaming franchise by Naughty Dog which follows a modern-day descendant of Sir Francis Drake as he crosses the world in search of rare artifacts. Y'know, like Indiana Jones.
Carnahan is already at work on Bad Boys For Life, the long-awaited Bad Boys threequel, and penned the screenplay for Eli Roth's remake of Death Wish. As well as this, Carnahan is also involved in State of Affairs and The Blacklist, two major TV shows running on US television at the moment.
In other words, the likelihood of Uncharted reaching our screens any time soon is unlikely. Couple that with the piss-poor box office figures for Assassin's Creed and Warcraft and it's becoming even more unlikely. That said, nobody wants to see an Uncharted film directed and written by Joe Carnahan more than us.
