Despite somewhat middling reviews, it seems audiences just can't enough of live-action Disney adaptations.

In fact, all told, there's ELEVEN live-action films on the way in the coming years. With the financial success of Beauty & The Beast, it's clear that Disney is now starting to fast-track pretty much all of these films, with The Lion King apparently set to begin production in May of this year according to industry casting website My Entertainment World.

The film will see James Earl Jones return to voice Mufasa, whilst Donald Glover - who's currently in production on the untitled Young Han Solo movie - will be voicing Simba. Jon Favreau, who previously directed The Jungle Book is lined up to direct with a script from Jeff Nathanson, who previously worked on Catch Me If You Can and, uh, Speed 2: Cruise Control.

Like The Jungle Book, The Lion King will likely be a CGI-heavy film, but it's not yet known if it will feature music from the original film. As we reported yesterday, Disney's live-action adaptation of Mulan will not be a musical- much to the dismay of fans of the original.

No release date has been confirmed for the live-action remake of The Lion King.
