The Black List is an annual list of the best unproduced scripts floating around Hollywood. To be eligible, scripts must have been written in 2017 or be 'somehow uniquely associated' with the year, and must not have begun shooting during the year. 275 film executives gave the names of up to 10 scripts they loved, and all of those that received at least 6 votes made the list.

The list began in 2005; over 1000 films have been included, with over 300 going on to be produced. Some notable titles to make the list are Argo, American Hustle, Juno, The King's Speech, Slumdog Millionaire, Spotlight, The Revenant, and Hell or High Water.

The 2017 list was recently released, with 76 scripts making the cut. We've scanned through it and picked out a couple of titles that caught our eye. Keep a look out for these films if and when they hit your local cinema.

The full list can be viewed here.

Ruin
Writers: Matthew Firpo, Ryan Firpo
A nameless ex-Nazi captain must navigate the ruins of post-WWII Germany to atone for his crimes during the war by hunting down and killing the surviving members of his former SS death squad.

Ruin topped the list with 68 votes; Gal Gadot and director Justin Kurzel (Macbeth and Assassin's Creed) are attached to the project with production set to begin in early 2018

Let Her Speak
Writers: Mario Correa
The true story of Senator Wendy Davis and her 24-hour filibuster to save 75% of abortion clinics in Texas

The second place film with 42 votes. Sandra Bullock is set to take on the role of Davis.

Keeper of the Diary
Writers: Samuel Franco, Evan Kilgore
Chronicles Otto Frank’s journey, with the help of a junior editor at Doubleday Press, to find a publisher for the diary his daughter Anne wrote during the Holocaust.

Kenneth Branagh is attached to direct, which adds to the promise. However, this film is currently with Fox Searchlight so the recent merger with Disney could potentially hold up production.

When Lighting Strikes

Writers: Anna Klassen
The true story of 25-year-old Joanne Rowling as she weathers first loves, unexpected pregnancies, lost jobs, and depression on her journey to create Harry Potter

We're honestly surprised it's taken this long for a JK Rowling biopic to happen, could be potential box office gold if they get the casting right.

Newsflash

Writers: Ben Jacoby
On November 22nd, 1963, Walter Cronkite puts everything on the line to get the story right as a president is killed, a frightened nation weeps, and television comes of age.

Hollywood loves films about journalism and comedians taking on serious roles. This has both. Seth Rogen has been cast as Walter Cronkite, the aim is to have the film ready to release on JFK's 55th anniversary next November.
