As Potter fans probably already know, today marks a special event in J.K. Rowling’s wizarding world as it’s the day Albus Severus Potter boards the Hogwarts Express at King's Cross for the first time (namely that passage from the epilogue of Deathly Hallows of ‘19 Years Later’ falls today).

Looking back at the books and films, we were reminded of another boy wizard (and one who I’m sure a lot of Potterheads can relate to) – Colin Creevey, an aspiring photographer who was Harry Potter’s biggest fan.

You’ll remember him from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, who was unfortunately petrified by the Basilisk until Harry came to the rescue.

The actor, Hugh Mitchell, turns 28 this month, and he’s had a number of roles since debuting in Chris Columbus’ second HP film. He’s had starring roles in movies like The Da Vinci Code and Nicholas Nickleby and TV series like Parade’s End, The White Queen, Holby City and Wallander.

While Wallander is head-lined by his former Chamber of Secrets co-star Kenneth Branagh, Parade’s End saw him play opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Rebecca Hall.

But best of all, in one of those happy coincidences where fact meets fiction, Mitchell actually is a photographer now, describing himself as an ‘outdoor photography enthusiast.’ You can check out some of his work on his Instagram.
