Two of cinema's most popular movie monsters are set to collide on the big screen in 2020 and we now know who will be calling the shots behind the camera.

The Guest's Adam Wingard will be the man tasked with pulling it off. Wingard's next film, the American remake of Death Note is set to arrive on Netflix in August.

While Universal have been in the press a lot lately with their shared monster universe which has recently been christened 'Dark Universe', Warner Bros. are making a monster movie universe of their own when they have the classic creatures collide. Kong: Skull Island proved to be a hit when it was released earlier this year and took in a worldwide gross of $565m.

2014's Godzilla didn't fare too bad either, taking in $529m and generating a sequel that's currently in production. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will star Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown.

Plot details for Godzilla vs. Kong are thin on the ground but the title kind of explains it all doesn't it? The film is scheduled for a May 22, 2020 release date in the States and expect it to arrive in Irish cinemas in and around the same time.
