Antoine Fuqua will once again direct Denzel Washington in a sequel to The Equalizer.

The first film was based on a short-lived, but ace series from the 80s starring Edward Woodward. He basically went around righting wrongs, and giving bad guys slaps who had hurt people. He was ex-special forces and wore a class coat.

The film version wasn't bad. Fuqua knows action and he and Washington obviously have a shorthand at this stage - he directed Washington to an Oscar for Training Day. In their version Robert McCall worked in the American version of a Woodies and helped a young prostitute get free from a criminal gang.

Shooting will begin shortly for a release in September of 2018.
