So the summer season is now well and truly over, and we're slowly but surely moving into awards movie territory. But for those of you concerned that the next few months will be filled with nothing but weepie Oscar-magnets, fear not! We've still got at least – AT LEAST! – ten movies filled with laughs and explosions and stuff that we all love the summer blockbuster season for. HOORAY!

ENDER’S GAME

Release Date: October 25th
Who's Involved? Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) directs Harrison Ford, Sir Ben Kinglsey, Viola Davis, Asa Butterfield, Hailee Steinfeld and Abigail Breslin
What's It About? It's The Hunger Games… In Space. It's Starship Troopers… For Kids. It's a group of talented teenagers who have been placed into a space marine programme to protect the Earth from an impending alien invasion. Heavy sci-fi subtext with lots of SFX for the eyes, too!

BAD GRANDPA

Release Date: October 25th
Who's Involved? Jeff Tremaine (Jackass) directs Johnny Knoxville and Spike Jonze
What's It About? A feature length version of the misbehaving old man from the previous Jackass movies, this seems like something that should have been stretching something to thin, but the trailer was absolutely HILARIOUS, and it's been just long enough since the last Jackass movie for us to miss it.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD

Release Date: October 30th
Who's Involved? Alan Taylor (Game Of Thrones) directs Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston and Christopher Eccleston.
What's It About? Thor and his girlfriend finally get reunited after the events of The Avengers, and he brings he back to his world of Asgard. Unfortunately it was very badly timed, as there's a new evil taking aim at Thor’s homeworld, and his devious half-brother Loki may be the only one who can save the day.

GRAVITY

Release Date: November 8th
Who's Involved? Alfonso Cuaron (Children Of Men) directs Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.
What's It About? After disaster strikes on their space shuttle, Bullock and Clooney must depend on each other to ensure that neither one is just left to float off into the nothingness of eternal space. A massive hit in the States and with critics, we can't wait to watch this on as big a screen as possible!

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE

 

Release Date: November 21st
Who's Involved? Francis Lawrence (I Am Legend) directs Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Liam Hemsworth, Josh Hutcherson and loads more.
What's It About? The sequel to the Young Adult Adaption Movie that it's okay to like, this sees a new director take the story in a new direction, as the winners of the previous Hunger Games are now thrust into an anniversary event, where they must face off against previous winners.

FROZEN

Release Date: December 6th
Who's Involved? Chris Buck (Tarzan) and Jennifer Lee direct Kristen Bell, Josh Gad and Alan Tudyk.
What's It About? Disney once again go about slightly retelling old fairytales, in the same way they did Rapunzel in Tangled. But this time it's The Snow Queen, and we meet up with the ice princess and a living snowman team up to confront her sister, who has sent their kingdom into an endless winter.

THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG

Release Date: December 13th
Who's Involved? Peter Jackson (The Lord Of The Rings Trilogy) directs Martin Freeman, Ian McKellan, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom and Benedict Cumberbatch.
What's It About? The middle of The Hobbit Trilogy, this sees the group of Hobbits and Dwarves finally reach the caves they've been searching for, only to come face to… well, snout, with the dragon Smaug, voiced by Cumberbatch.

ANCHORMAN 2: THE LEGEND CONTINUES

Release Date: December 20th
Who's Involved? Adam McKay (Talladega Nights) directs Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell, Christina Applegate, Harrison Ford, Jim Carrey, Tina Fey, Vince Vaughn, Kristen Wiig, James Marsden, Sacha Baron Cohen, Amy Poehler, Liam Neeson, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst.
What's It About? Eh… really? I have to explain this? It’s ANCHORMAN 2, you guys! It's all of the original cast back with the original director, and look at all of those guest stars! We can't wait to see Ron Burgendy and his team tackle the 80s and the worlds first 24 hour news channel.

47 RONIN

Release Date: December 26th
Who's Involved? Carl Rinsch directs Keanu Reeves and Rinko Kikuchi.
What's It About? First time director Rinsch managed to bag a massive $230 million budget for this story about a group of samurai who go about exacting revenge on an assassin who murdered their master. There's also magic and dragons involved.

JACK RYAN: SHADOW RECRUIT

Release Date: December 26th
Who's Involved? Kenneth Branagh (Thor) directs Chris Pine, Kevin Costner, Keira Knightley and, uhm, Kenneth Branagh.
What's It About? The origin story of the special agent Jack Ryan who we’ve previously seen played by Harrison Ford, Alec Baldwin and Ben Affleck in the movies The Hunt For Red October, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum Of All Fears, this time around Jack tries to prevent a Russian terrorist attack that may cause the US economy to fall apart. Expect loud explosions.
