The team at Warner Bros and DC are determined to get you pumped for their upcoming feature ‘Aquaman’. The film is being directed by James Wan, whose impressive string of credits include the first ‘Saw’ movie, ‘Insidious’ (and its sequel), ‘The Conjuring’ (and its sequel) and ‘Furious 7’, the top-grossing film of the Fast & Furious franchise.

Hopes have been high for the standalone flick since the last success from the studio was the epic ‘Wonder Woman’. Their team-up films, ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and ‘Justice League’, proved less successful.

Early screenings of ‘Aquaman’ have compared the movie to ‘Wonder Woman’ and, more surprisingly, ‘Indiana Jones’.

One of the film’s producers, Peter Safran, told EW that the film has “got the great action you expect, it’s got a lot of great humor, it works on so many levels … it’s a testament to James’ unique vision. I think it’s an extraordinary step in DC Universe that sets it on the right path.”

Warner Bros film chief Toby Emmerich also talked about the film’s director: “James has done an incredible job with his team. The film is taking you to a different place and imagining the underwater world in a way you haven’t seen before.”

DC Entertainment president Geoff Johns added to the comments about its visual spleandour: “The underwater stuff has never been executed like this before.

“The visual effects shots coming in are just beautiful. James can switch modes from horror to big bright colourful action to really emotional scenes. He’s so able to hit all these different genres.”

Sounds like everything we could want in a superhero movie, though of course it’s hard to visualise without a trailer.

Wan said back in March that he is “simply not yet ready to share” one but given the movie is set for release in December, he’d want to get a move on!
