Rocky fans should be delighted at this latest development for Creed 2.
Over the past few months, we've seen a number of announcements for Creed 2, including that it's actually happening, that Sylvester Stallone is writing the script, and that it will see Rocky IV star Dolph Lundgren return to play the character of Ivan Drago.
Now the most recent announcement is that Sly himself will be directing and producing the sequel to the Rocky spin-off, which is due to commence production in 2018.
Stallone wrote on Instagram: “Looking forward to directing and producing the incredibly talented Michael B. Jordan in CREED 2 next year …one more round!”
Rocky was the series that made Stallone a star and you couldn't ask for someone who knows and loves the franchise more. He not only plays the titular role but he also wrote the original films and directed Rocky II and its three subsequent sequels.
Stallone has three Oscar nominations - two for Rocky (Best Lead Actor and Best Original Screenplay) and one for Creed (Best Supporting Actor). Could this sequel finally see him earn an Academy Award?
