We've said it before and we'll say it again - Super Troopers was one of the funniest comedies of the the past twenty years.

Don't believe us? You need proof? Simple. Go on YouTube, search for the "meow" scene and that's all the proof you need. You need more? Try searching for literally any clip from the film and you'll find some bawdy, outlandishly stupid stuff that's bound to make you laugh.

Anyway, the film - for whatever reason, nobody's really sure - was pretty well trashed by critics of the day, but it's since become a cult movie and a sequel has long been planned. Finally, around two years ago, a Kickstarter campaign was launched to get the sequel up and running and now, at long last, it's officially ready to go with a release date and everything.

In an interview with Seven Days, Steve Lemme - who played Mac in the original film - confirmed a number of details about the film, and went on to confirm a couple of rumours about the film. For one, the release date hasn't been confirmed - and won't be released on April 20th, 2018, as some people are claiming. The reason for people thinking it's this date - it's 4/20, going by how Americans do their dates - is that Lemme said that release date was "springtime and there's a very obvious date, which happens to fall on a Friday this year."

Doing a little bit of math, that tells us it's 4/20. However, director Jay Chandrasekhar has since tweeted out a rebuttal to that story.

Speaking of Twitter, Chandrasekhar also pointed out on Twitter a few weeks ago that none other than Eagles Of Death Metal are scoring the film.

This film needs to come out right meow.
