The former rap mogul, Marion "Suge" Knight", was formally arraigned in Los Angeles Superior Court yesterday for threatening to murder F. Gary Gray, the director of Straight Outta Compton.

Knight's lawyer claims that the threats against Gray stem from a text sent to the director in 2014, and that it couldn't be interpreted as threatening. Knight has been charged under Penal Code 422(a), which covers willful threats "to commit a crime which will result in death or great bodily injury to another person."

According to the prosecution, Knight had a problem with how he was portrayed in the film. This isn't the first legal battle for Straight Outta Compton, or Suge Knight either. The former manager of NWA, Gerald Heller, filled a $110 million defamation lawsuit against Universal Pictures. Heller, however, passed away in September of last year at the age of 70.

Knight, meanwhile, is currently awaiting trial for the murder of Terry Carter and the attempted murder of Cle "Bone" Sloan during a hit-and-run incident in 2015. Not only that, Suge Knight is also suing Dr. Dre, Chris Brown and writer-producer Scott Storch.
