Well, it’s one way to get a sombre performance out of your cast…

English actor Riz Ahmed, who stars in Jason Bourne and HBO series The Night of as well as playing pilot Bodhi Rook in Rogue One, recently appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. While Ahmed obviously couldn’t reveal too much about the plot of Rogue One, he did talk about its shooting process.

‘It’s very different to the other Star Wars movies. It feels very immersive with a kind of a boots-on-the-ground feel,’ Ahmed said.

He continued: ‘Our director would often operate the camera and we would just do these really intense scenes where we would shoot a scene without cutting, do it again, do it again, do it again, do it again, without stopping.

‘So the film has a really intense energy, partly because of that process but partly because we never got a break to go to the toilet within that process, at all.’

Stephen Colbert jokes ‘you got rage bladder’ and while the audience laughed, Ahmed looked quite serious about it. Or maybe he was just being intense.

It kind of gives a new meaning to the trailer if you watch it again with this information in mind…
