After yesterday saw the odds released for the next singer / band to do Spectre, betting has now been suspended by William Hill, Coral and Paddy Power.

Why's that? Somebody tried to place a £15,000 bet on - wait for it - RADIOHEAD to do the next Bond theme. How amazing does that sound?

A statement from William Hill said that the bet was placed at 10/1, which would net the winner £165,000. "Nobody risks £15,000 on a hunch," William Hill concluded.

As such, Radiohead has shot to the top with 6/4 favourite and has sent the rumour mill into overdrive.

Thom Yorke's no stranger to film music; his solo career saw him provide a song to Christopher Nolan's The Prestige whilst Jonny Greenwood's got a side-career going as a composer for Paul Thomas Anderson.

Meanwhile, Ellie Goulding is dropping not-so-subtle hints that she's doing it by posting a picture of herself outside Abbey Studios the other day.

Likewise, Sam Smith more or less announced it a few weeks in a radio interview.

So, thoughts on Radiohead? It has to be a publicity stunt by William Hill. There hasn't even been a whiff of a rumour that Radiohead are involved and considering that we're only two months away from release strikes us as being highly improbable.

That being said, it would be fantastic if they did it. But likely? Not a chance.

Bond themes, by and large, are done by whoever's the du jour pop artist of the time. Sheena Easton, A-Ha, Duran Duran, all the way up to Garbage and Adele.

The likelihood of it really being Radiohead is tantalising, but can't be taken seriously.

If it turns out that it is Radiohead, we will publicly eat a hat. You heard it here and we will follow through.
