Samuel L Jackson Joins Robocop Remake
Samuel L. Jackson is the latest name to join the cast of the RoboCop reboot, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Jackson will next be seen in the Quentin Tarantino directed Django Unchained, and just appeared as Nick Fury in one of the biggest movies of all time, Marvel Avengers Assemble. His role in RoboCop is that 'a charismatic media mogul and a powerful force in the RoboCop world'. Sounds like a villain to me. The remake will star Joel Kinnaman in the titular role, while Gary Oldman has also just signed on for a part. Kinnaman has been talking up the production recently and told MTV that the character will be "a lot more human" this time. 'It's not going to be jaw action. They're still working on the suit and how it's going to look, but the visor is going to be see-through. You're going to see his eyes,' he told the station.
The more I hear of this the cooler it sounds. Director Jose Padilha seems to really be going for that edgy tone.

The see through visor is instant bad news. As a mad fan of RoboCop, i'm hearing a lot about this movie that i don't like. I'm all for someone maybe wanting to ditch Superman's cape and red jocks, i know i would, but changes like this to a character ruins the whole thing. What works for RoboCop is that no one is supposed to know that he's Murphy. And a TV mogul? Even worse. How many times have we seen that? Tomorrow Never Dies (James Bond) jumps straight to mind.
