Ever since Ron Howard stepped in to take over from Phil Lord and Chris Miller, there's been a question mark over Solo: A Star Wars Story and precisely who'd be credited as director and how much of what was already shot was usable.

A report by SWNN has it that "80% or more" of the film was reshot by Ron Howard, with the production budget effectively doubling as a result. This, however, is in direct contrast with an earlier report in June from THR that cited an insider source claiming that much of what Lord and Miller shot was "very usable."

For his part, Howard hasn't publicly commented on the rumours nor has there been any official statement from Lucasfilm or Disney on the matter. Reshoots, of course, aren't anything new - particularly in Star Wars. Rogue One was subject to a number of reshoots and most productions plan them in as a matter of course.

All that aside, reshooting the entire film or a significant portion of it is an entirely different matter. Whether or not the reports by SWNN are true remains to be seen, but either way, the stink around the Han Solo spinoff continues to linger.

Solo: A Star Wars Story lands in cinemas on May 25th, 2018.
