It's generally understood that the crime-drama dream team is made up of Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, Joe Pesci and Martin Scorsese. Although they've all gone on to have varying degrees of success, or in one case, outright retirement, their work together still holds up after all these years.
Joe Pesci, DeNiro and Scorsese last worked together in Casino, the sprawling three-hour epic that followed the Mob's infiltration of Las Vegas right through the modern era whilst DeNiro and Pacino last worked on... well, Righteous Kill. It currently sits at 19% on Rotten Tomatoes. Eugh.
I Hear You Paint Houses, the international bestseller that focused on the confession of Frank 'The Irishman' Sheeran has long been in production for quite some time, however DeNiro recently offered an update on the project. "We are doing it... it should happen sometime next year," explained DeNiro in a recent interview promoting The Intern.
Joe Pesci, Al Pacino and Martin Scorsese have all said they're down to get involved as well, which means we could see the old team back together. Scorsese's next film, according to iMDB, is Silence with Liam Neeson that tells the story of Jesuit priests in 17th century Japan. However, if all goes according to plan and what DeNiro is saying, I Hear You Paint Houses should be starting production some time next year for a possible 2017 release.
