Still regarded as one of the best horror movies ever made, John Carpenter's Halloween holds up incredibly well to this day.

Our Brian caught up with Carpenter for a fascinating chat a few months back, and it was clear from that interview that he was scarcely (creatively) involved with any of the remakes of his films - outside of using his name as a Exec Producer on posters. The Rob Zombie version of Halloween is a special kind of awful.

But super-producer Jason Bloom has put together an incredible team for the latest take on 'Halloween'. It has the creative talents of David Gordon Green directing (he's currently riding high with Oscar contender 'Stronger') from a script he co-wrote with Danny McBride (Vice Principals). The real draw here being that Jamie Lee Curtis will return as Laurie Strode.

Blum was quoted over the weekend about Carpenter's involvement and it sounds like, for the first time, he's heavily involved:

“We don’t take any big steps without his approval, so for instance hiring David and Danny he approved. He approved their pitch, he approved their first script. He approved bringing back Jamie Lee Curtis.

So anytime we make a big creative turn he’s involved with that and we don’t do it without his blessing. We went to him and asked him to be involved. There was no contractual, financial or any other obligation to have him on this movie. We went back and asked him to join us again.”

The film is scheduled for release on October 19th 2018 - 40 years after the original.
