The film, which has not yet been officially titled, will be set in the same time period.

However, reps for Tarantino have said that while the film does run parallel to the Manson murders, it will not be solely focused on them. No synopsis or plot details were announced with the news, however it's understood that casting is now underway.

Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise have all been touted as possible stars, and the film is being described as an ensemble piece. The film also marks the first time that Harvey Weinstein will not be involved with a Tarantino film. Weinstein distributed all of Tarantino's films, and acted as executive producer from Pulp Fiction on.

Sony Pictures won the bidding war to distribute the film, defeating Warner Bros. and Paramount in the process.
