Saorise Ronan's new film, Brooklyn, has been getting all sorts of accolades and critical praise and, at three months, it's looking like a serious Oscar contender.

The story of a young woman in 1950's Ireland leaving behind her life to start anew in Brooklyn, New York still has a huge amount of resonance for Ireland today; something that wasn't lost on Saoirse Ronan when we talked to her about the film.

Ronan, who recently left Dublin for London, spoke about how her character's journey was similar to her own, as well as returning to Ireland and Enniscorthy. We also talked about the Oscar buzz surrounding Brooklyn, how she's coping with it and her opinions on period dramas and if there's a correlation between this and previous roles.

We also discussed the rumours surrounding her involvement in The Force Awakens and how co-star Domhnall Gleeson found he was cast in the upcoming blockbuster on the set of Brooklyn.
