We're going to be seeing a lot more videogame adaptations in the near future and, from what we're seeing, there's finally an uptick in quality.

Duncan Jones' take on Warcraft is, from what we're hearing, shaping up quite nicely. Meanwhile, Assassin's Creed is building up steam and buzz already. Justin Kerzel and Michael Fassbender previously worked together on Macbeth and the early word on that is extremely positive.

However, all's been quiet on Assassin's Creed - until now, that is. Our first look at Fassbender's take on the role can be seen below and, we've gotta say, it looks damn interesting.

Behold.

The plot for the Assassin's Creed movie is also pretty intriguing. Instead of basing it on a particular game or plotline, it's more of a general appropriation of the major elements surrounding it.

Fassbender plays Callum Lynch, who discovers his ancestry links him to the secret Assassin's society. Via genetic memories (it's a big thing in the game), he relives the "adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain" and uses that same knowledge to fight the Knights Templar in the modern day world.

The story, yes, is a bit daft - but it's contingent on how the script manages the more flighty parts of the story and makes it believable in that world. The fact that Justin Kerzel is attached is also very promising, as Macbeth looks visually stunning and we can hope for the same here.

All in all, it's looking very, very cool. What do you think? Sound off in the comments!
