Darren Aronofsky's no stranger to making weird, unsettling films that'll stay with you for a lifetime.

Requiem For A Dream, Black Swan, The Fountain - hell, even The Wrestler had some genuinely uncomfortable moments and that was probably his straightest film to date. His latest venture, however, is on a completely different level and we should point out that if you're any way squeamish, best not scroll any further.

There's no details yet on mother! - the exclamation mark and lowercase m are intentional, by the way - other than the poster below, a brief synopsis and a cast list which includes Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, Ed Harris and our own Domhnall Gleeson.

Here's the poster.

Freaky, right?

Well, the synopsis tell us absolutely nothing either. Per IMDb, the story centers on "a couple whose relationship is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence." That could literally mean anything, Darren Aronofsky.

Is this like that horror film, The Strangers, perhaps? The film is described as a psychological horror, so our guess is that it's something in that region - but really, that's just lazy speculation on our part. It's Darren Aronofsky, so there's a good chance that it's nothing even close to that.

Either way, it's intriguing. mother! is scheduled for a very Oscar-friendly November 10th release date here in Ireland.
