Philip Seymour Hoffman is to direct the supernatural thriller 'Ezekiel Moss' it was revealed today.

Fresh from the highly acclaimed premiere of The Master at the Toronto Film Festival Hoffman is to undertake the role of director for the film for Mandalay Pictures. Ezekial Moss tells the story of a mysterious stranger who arrives in town who has the power to communicate with the dead and transforms the lives of a widow and her son who befriend him. The film was on 2011's Black list of acclaimed but unproduced works.

Speaking about the appointment of Hoffman as director Mandalay producer Cathy Schulman said he is 'one of the great talents of our generation' and added 'We are thrilled to be in his capable hands directing this captivating and gothic exploration of faith and the supernatural.'

Hoffman last directed in 2010 and is currently filming for the second instalment of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire where he plays Plutarch Heavensbee.
