Wonder Woman broke more than a few records when it arrived in cinemas last year and it's likely that the 2019 sequel will do the same.

In fact, it's already broken one record before cameras have even begun rolling as it's been confirmed by Variety that Patty Jenkins will receive a cool $9,000,000 for her work on the blockbuster, making her the highest-paid female director in Hollywood history and tripling her salary from the first film.

Early reports suggested that Jenkins was set to receive anywhere between $7,000,000 to $9,000,000 and it looks like the higher figure was achieved through some shrewd negotiating - and the fact that Wonder Woman is one of the few successes, critically and commercially, of Warners' flagging DCEU.

Wonder Woman 2 is expected to enter production shortly, with Kirsten Wiig signed on to play the villain Cheetah and Gal Gadot returning as Wonder Woman.
