Some of you may have watched or plan to watch Christmas classic How the Grinch Stole Christmas over the holidays.

The Jim Carrey starrer based on Dr Seuss’ book of the same name was the biggest box office hit of the year 2000, and is the second highest-grossing holiday film of all time (Home Alone being the first).

With a stellar cast including Jeffrey Tambor, Christine Baranski, Bill Irwin and Molly Shannon, it also featured the breakout performance of talented seven year old Taylor Momsen, who played Cindy Lou Who. Cindy Lou was responsible for melting the Grinch’s icy attitude to Christmas and saved the holiday for the town of Whoville alongside the fiend.

Taylor would star in Spy Kids 2 and Underdog while she was still a young’un (she was also up for the part of Hannah Montana but lost out to Miley Cyrus), but audiences are most likely to recognise her from Gossip Girl, in which she played Jenny Humphrey.

Since 2009, she has been the lead singer and frontwoman of rock band The Pretty Reckless. Her new Gothic look is definitely a far cry from the Cindy Lou character. She’s now 23 years old.

It’s nice to see that after Taylor's sweet rendition of ‘Where are you Christmas?’ in The Grinch, she’s still pursuing singing, even if she’s taking a hiatus from acting for now.
