Original Monster Squad Writer Speaks About Project

You may recall that last month we reported on the greenlighting of a kids movie called Monster Squad, with Deuce Bigalow director Mike Mitchell behind the camera. You may also recall a classic 1987 kids movie of the same name, which was directed by future Robocop III head-honcho Fred Dekker. You may, however, be surprised to learn that Monster Squad 2.0 bears absolutely no resemblance to its similarly monikered cousin. It actually began life ten years ago at the pen of Hollywood screenwriter Brian Lynch and was called Nightcrawlers. We spoke to Lynch about this and it may come as some sort of surprise to learn that he knows very little about the current incarnation of his project. ? "Truth is, I don't know much about the Night Squad Crawlers Monsters movie", Brian Lynch told Entertainment.ie. "I've been out on the loop for that movie for about 5 years. I will say, I am a huge fan of Mike Mitchell. And the original Monster Squad is one of my favorite movies of all time, I hope the new one lives up to the name."
