Please don’t let it be so…

Variety is reporting that Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer says that there could be more Twilight and Hunger Games movies to come.

The studio does not wish to close the door on the franchises just yet (which may be related to their being highly lucrative assets, just maybe) and Feltheimer gestured that the company will go forward with new instalments and/or spin-offs if the respective authors give the ok.

He said: “There are a lot more stories to be told, and we’re ready to tell them when our creators are ready to tell those stories.”

Feltheimer also emphasised that this is all up in the air still and depends on a lot of talks between a lot of industry members: “If it were possible for us all to get in a room together and have exhibitors and studios and digital distributors all get in a room together, I’ve seen enough research to really believe that it’s really something that would be good for everybody.”

Mind you, it is pivotal that Twilight author Stephenie Meyer and Hunger Games creator Suzanne Collins agree to these proceedings. Moreover, would actors Jennifer Lawrence, Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson etc. agree to come back?

We think the last thing we need in the industry right now is ANOTHER reboot. At the same time, money talks, and with the Twilight Saga film series having made $3.34 billion across its five films while The Hunger Games film series made $2.968 billion, we can see why the studio is tempted…
