How far would you go for a movie role? Would you take part in a little on screen menage a trois? Well sometimes, duty calls. It certainly has for actress Charlotte Gainsbourg. In the latest film from Lars Von Trier, the does-what-it-says-on-the-tin titled Nymphomaniac is an erotic drama that centres on Joe (Gaisnbourg), a woman who recounts her sexual exploits to the man who saved her after a brutal beating (Stellan Skarsgard).
Nymphomaniac boasts a stellar cast among which Shia LaBeouf, Willem Dafoe, Uma Thurman and Christian Slater are also included. What makes this movie even more interesting is the rumours that Von Triers have asked his cast to perform 'real' sex scenes. So no cups or nothin'. Commenting ahead of filming last summer, LaBeouf expressed his fears to MTV ahead of filming: "He's very dangerous. He's the most dangerous dude I've ever showed up for... I'm terrified."
For those of you who just can't hack the idea of authentic sex scenes - probably best to avoid going to this one with your mammy - the Dogville director is said to be releasing two versions of the film. One which will be as realistic as they come, and then the other which will be a little softer around the edges.
