Look, at this stage, we're hoping for just one Ghostbusters.

Back when the Channing Tatum / Chris Pratt counterpart to the all-female Ghostbusters was announced, several million eyes rolled in disgust over the prospect.

Many saw it as a deliberate attempt to appeal to the 'outrage' over an all-female Ghostbusters, whilst others believed it was just a cash-in.

In any case, Ivan Reitman - who directed the first two Ghostbusters and is acting as a producer on the reboot - has come out with a pretty cut-and-dry statement about both.

"There has been a lot of excitement recently about what is happening with the Ghostbusters franchise. As the producer of the new Ghostbusters film, I feel the need to clarify. There is only one new Ghostbusters movie and that is the Paul Feig directed version coming next July, presently filming and going fantastically. The rest is just noise."

There you have it. Just noise.

This, however, flies in the face of several reports that Drew Pearce, he of Iron Man 3 scripting duties and Rogue Nation, has completed a 'bible' for the all-male Ghostbusters.

There were also more rumours about a shared universe between the two sets of Ghostbusters, although if Reitman's throwing cold water over it all, we have to take him at his word.

Meanwhile, the all-female Ghostbusters rumbles on with a trailer expected some time before the end of the year in time for its July 22nd release date.
