No Bob Hoskins for Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel. Sad face.
Ah here, you can't be having a Who Framed Roger Rabbit sequel without Bob Hoskins. It just wouldn't be the same! As much as director Robert Zemeckis (and us too) would like to envision Hoskins reprising his role as the toon-hating detective, unfortunately due to an illness, the actor has had to retire. Earlier in the year, Hoskins announced his decision to retire upon being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. His role as the all seeing dwarf, Muir in Snow White and The Huntsman may well be the last thing we see the actor take on. We do hope he's getting on OK.
Things had stalled recently on the production of the follow up to the 1988 original. Now though, Zemeckis has given us a duly update; a script has been written and it's currently awaiting the green light from the folk over at Disney. Speaking to Showbiz 411, Zemeckis said: "I have a script at Disney, and we're just waiting for all the executive changes to settle down there." What Zemeckis is still hoping for is that Hoskins will produce the sequel.
Next up for Zemeckis is Flight which we'll get to see next February.
