Warner Bros.' take on Wonder Woman is proving to be one the more interesting comic-book movies coming in the next few years.

For one, Monster director Patty Jenkins - who was previously in talks to director Thor: The Dark World - has signed on to direct it, Chris Pine is attached to star as Steve Trevor and Gal Gadot will be playing the Amazonian warrior.

However, it's now been reported that none other than Nicole Kidman is in talks to join the cast in a senior role as Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons. In the comics, Hippolyta was the mother of Wonder Woman and was a huge character in the Wonder Woman storylines. It seems obvious then that the character should play a role in the first standalone Wonder Woman film, especially when the film's going to set up the mythology and world for Wonder Woman.

The character will make its first appearance in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, however the standalone Wonder Woman won't hit cinemas until June 23rd, 2017 so it remains to be seen if Kidman's involvement pans out. It really does say a lot about the type of prestige actor Warners are looking for, especially when you consider they've cast Jeremy Irons as Alfred and Holly Hunter as a US Senator in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

What do you think? Can you see Nicole Kidman as a superhero type?
