Nerdgasm: The Hobbit trilogy gets its release dates.

Attention all LOTR and The Hobbit obsessives...

Collider online have just recently confirmed that the third installment in Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy will open on July 18th, 2014. At the moment, we are unaware as to whether this date will be the same across the world or whether it's USA specific. Let's just assume for now that it's all the same; the first movie - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey opens here on the same day as it does stateside so they could well follow suit with part two and three. The third film will now be called The Hobbit: There and Back Again while the second film has been re-titled as The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

So if you want to jot this down in your hobbit themed diary, the important dates are as follows:

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey will open on December 13th, 2012.
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will open December 13th, 2013.
The Hobbit: There and Back Again will open July 18th, 2014.

3 movies ? LOTR is a trilogy so the 3 movies made sense.
