Like, not even REMOTELY close to him.

The Aaron Sorkin-scripted / Danny Boyle-directed biopic of the first Apple Genius has had a rocky road to production. After Christian Bale bailed (heh) and Leonardo DiCaprio pulled out, it was Michael Fassbender who stepped in to play Jobs.

Likewise, David Fincher similarly walked away from the production after his demands weren't met. The production took off, regardless, and has been somewhat quiet.

That is until this first image was snapped and shared over Instagram.

It shows a mid-80's Steve Jobs standing proudly over NeXT, a short-lived computer system that Jobs created when he was ousted from Apple originally and gives us our first look at Fassbender as Jobs.

We're not writing it off immediately, but there really is no comparison between the Bender of Fasses and Jobs. At least, none that we can see.

Here's Fassbender...

...and here's the actual poster they're aping.

It's entirely possible that this isn't the finished poster they're using and that Fassbender will infuse his own sensibility to the role. As it stands right now, however, they don't look all that similar.

But is similarity the deciding factor? Frank Langella didn't really look like Nixon in Frost / Nixon, but he damn well made the role his own.
