It’s what the Americans call “Fall” and that means Oscar season is gearing up, so the studios are pushing their serious awards contenders. Coming up the rear as somewhat of a dark horseis Irishman, Michael Fassbender.
Fassbender is starring in two extremely edgy, well received new films; David Cronenberg’s A Dangerous Mind and his reteaming with Hunger director Steve McQueen, Shame. While attending the film festival at Venice this passing week, Fassbender went and picked up Best Actor for himself for his work on the already controversial Shame.
Fassbender has already been compared to Daniel Day Lewis by the American critics who have seen the two movies, and if Oscar manages to grow a set of balls between now and January, then we should see him pick up a nomination at least.
