Plot details have begun to surface for Expendables 3 and what we now know is that Mel Gibson will play the baddie.
In the third installment from Sylvester Stallone's over-the-hill actioner, which is filming now in Bulgaria, we've become privy to the following synopsis:
"In "The Expendables 3," Barney (Stallone), Christmas (Jason Statham) and the rest of the team comes face-to-face with Conrad Stonebanks (Mel Gibson), who years ago co-founded The Expendables with Barney. Stonebanks subsequently became a ruthless arms trader and someone who Barney was forced to kill… or so he thought. Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables — but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables' most personal battle yet."
So there you have it. Among the young'uns will be Twilight's Kellan Lutz who we're excited to see play something other than a creatine-infused vampire with a bad case of constipation. Now he'll likely play a mere mortal who probably still looks as though he needs to lay off the muscle enhancement stuff and probably, yes, still confusing his 'act serious' face with his 'I need to go to the toilet, but my current circumstances won't allow it' face. What are we expecting? Plenty of jokes about iPods Vs box TVs (as opposed to today's flat screen LCD ones, y'see), WiFi Vs dial up internet and lots more jibes to highlight the generational gap between the rookies and the veterans.
