The last few years have been very kind to Martin Freeman.

While he never dropped off the face of the earth, it's fair to say that he'd dipped under a lot of people's radars before rising to A-List stardom recently with the success of Sherlock, Fargo, and The Hobbit series.

Not content with that, Freeman has once again put his name to a massive project, after it was today announced that he has signed on to 2016's Captain America: Civil War.

Freeman's character has yet to be announced, but he'll be joining the already star-studded cast of Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr., Anthony Mackie, and Elizabeth Olsen.

If that's not enough for you, remember that the new Spiderman is likely to be unveiled in that film too.

We're not putting two and two together here, but if you want to imagine Freeman as the web-slinger, that's fine, nobody will think any less of you. Although we can see him as more of crazed Eastern European scientist. Let the internet theories commence!
