Well they’re queens both on and off-screen so really we couldn’t imagine a better project for the two actresses.

Irish thespian Saoirse Ronan is signed on to play Mary Queen of Scots in a biopic about her turbulent and dramatic life. Mary, Queen of Scots, also known as Mary Stuart or Mary I of Scotland, reigned over Scotland from 1542 to 1567.

It has now been announced that Margot Robbie is in talks to play Queen Elizabeth I in the film. Robbie next stars in Goodbye Christopher Robin opposite Domhnall Gleeson, which is out later this year.

Josie Rourke is directing and House of Cards creator Beau Willimon is writing the script, adapting John Guy's book The True Life of Mary Stuart.

With such a cast and crew attached (plus it’s being based on a real-life historical figure), this could be a big awards contender.

The film will tell the story of how "Mary Stuart's attempt to overthrow her cousin Elizabeth I, Queen of England, finds her condemned to years of imprisonment before facing execution." An on-screen rivalry between Saoirse and Margot could make for very intriguing stuff.
