French director Luc Besson has been accused of rape following a complaint made by an unnamed actress to police in Paris.

The complainant described to various media outlets as "violent sexual assault" and claimed that the incident took place just ten days ago in a hotel in Paris. Besson's legal representative has denied the woman's claims, telling THR that the director "fell from his chair when he learned of these accusations, which he flatly denies."

French police have yet to release an official statement on the matter, but it is understood that an investigation is now underway following the complaint. Besson is perhaps best known for directing The Fifth Element, Leon, and most recently Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets.
