Louis C.K. will return to film to write, direct and star in his own flick for uber producer, Scott Rudin.

C.K. previously wrote and directed the Chris Rock comedy, Pooty Tang, which was expected to be a far bigger hit than it was. But since then the comedian has proved himself one of the best stand up comics of all time, and also stars, writes and produces the critically lauded Louie.

He recently sold out four nights at Madison Square Garden, a record for a comic.

His new flick will be called, I Am Cop, and centre on a depressed middle-aged man who is also a volunteer police officer living in the shadow of his mother, a former highly decorated cop.

Rudin just worked with Rock on Top Five, and is one of the most prolific producers in Hollywood.

The latest season of Louie is currently playing on Fox in the UK.
