If you loved Jared Leto's Joker in Suicide Squad - and wanted to see more of what many dismissed as a 'glorified cameo' - there's good news this morning.

It's been revealed that the actor and sometime 30 Seconds to Mars frontman is being granted his own Joker spin-off movie - the second standalone offshoot from DC's Suicide Squad universe, following the recent news that Margot Robbie's Harley Quinn will also get her own movie.

According to Variety, Leto will both star in and executive produce the as-yet-untitled film and although plot details are unknown, it's expected to be an origins story, as was rumoured as far back as last year.

Joaquin Phoenix is also being tapped to star (despite denying it) although it's not clear whether the Joker film will shoot before or after the Suicide Squad sequel.
